Baseball Game Preview: Avenal Buccaneers vs. Orosi Cardinals

The Avenal Buccaneers will take on the Orosi Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Avenal and three for Orosi.

Avenal lost 19-6 to Kings Christian on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered against the Crusaders since March 1, 2016.

Miguel Paez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Jesus Zamora was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Avenal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Orosi fell victim to Corcoran and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-0.

Avenal's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Orosi, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-1.
