Baseball Game Preview: Williamsburg Yellow Jackets vs. Barbourville Tigers

Williamsburg and Barbourville are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Yellow Jackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Williamsburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with ten straight defeats, while Barbourville will come in with eight straight wins.

Williamsburg fell victim to Wayne County and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 14-0.

Meanwhile, Barbourville won against Pineville on Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Tigers didn't even let the Mountain Lions on the board, marking the Tigers' second-straight 18-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Barbourville's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
