Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Lutheran's Winning Streak

Lutheran lost against Rockford Christian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lutheran Crusaders fell 87-78 to the Rockford Christian Royal Lions. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Royal Lions are ranked 53rd).

Lutheran moved to 8-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Rockford Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Boone at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully North Boone likes a good challenge. As for Rockford Christian, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against St. Bede at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockford Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
