Recap: Seaside Spartans vs. Monterey Dores
The Seaside Spartans lost a heartbreaker to the Monterey Dores when they met back in September of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Seaside took a serious blow against Monterey, falling 50-13. Seaside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Monterey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Preston White out in front who rushed for 24 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 157 yards and a touchdown. Enobong Wirth was another key contributor, rushing for 58 yards and two touchdowns.
Monterey's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Eric Valdez and his two sacks.
Seaside's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Monterey, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seaside will take on Palo Alto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monterey, they will head out on the road to face off against Sacred Heart Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
