Softball Recap: Eustis Victorious

Eustis barely beat South Sumter the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won nine in a row.

The result came thanks to Carson Roden's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Covino, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Emmy Luke was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Eustis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Sumter struck out nine times.

Eustis' victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for South Sumter, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Eustis will venture away from home to challenge Lake Howell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Sumter, they will head out to face off against Belleview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rattlers have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
