Softball Recap: Bellingham Sets Scoring Season-High Against Blackstone-Millville

The matchup between Bellingham and Blackstone-Millville on Monday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Blackhawks blew past the Chargers 24-3. The Blackhawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jacobi Houston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Houston was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ainsley MacNeil was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julia Simon, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Bellingham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Bellingham pushed their record up to 3-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Blackstone-Millville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Bellingham and Blackstone-Millville will both be playing Tri-County RVT the next time they take the field. The Blackhawks will host the Cougars at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Chargers will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on the 29th.
