The Pine Tree Pirates and the Gilmer Buckeyes will compete for holiday cheer at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Pine Tree's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Gilmer has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Tuesday, Pine Tree came up short against Chapel Hill and fell 45-38.

Meanwhile, Gilmer was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 53-48 to Carthage.

Pine Tree's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-5. As for Gilmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
