The Wickenburg Wranglers made easy work of the North Valley Christian Academy Lions on Friday and carried off a 20-3 victory. The Wranglers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 12 runs or more this season.
Maleigh Colvin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ariel Sprecher was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Brynlee Meister was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Wickenburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .342 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Wickenburg's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-9. As for North Valley Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wickenburg will head out to face off against Gilbert Classical Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Wranglers are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kingman Academy at 3:45 p.m. on the 22nd.
