Football Game Preview: Palisade Bulldogs vs. Summit Tigers

Palisade is 8-1 against Summit since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Palisade is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.8 points per game this season.

Palisade will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Grand Junction Central on Friday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 49-23 margin over the Warriors. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 42-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors had little chance of recovering from.

Palisade got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dylon Larson out in front who rushed for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. The dominant performance also gave Larson a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another back making a difference was Adyn Cassity, who rushed for 72 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Palisade was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 390 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Summit took a blow against Steamboat Springs on Friday, falling 65-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Sailors since October 30, 2015.

Summit dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Palisade, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Palisade against Summit in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-6 win. In that matchup, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
