Football Recap: Bill Mutua Leads Mountain View's Defense on Friday

Mountain View extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Henry Nelson. The Mavericks breezed past the Meridian Warriors to the tune of 41-0 on Friday for which the team can thank Nelson, who threw for 248 yards and five TDs while completing 89.5% of his passes. Mountain View is undefeated when Nelson posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Denton Wilson was Nelson's top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Wilson was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 65 yards.

One reason for the win was Mountain View's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. Bill Mutua was especially locked on to Meridian's QB and sacked him twice. Mutua also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Mountain View didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-7 win against Highland on the 31st. Meridian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
