Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bishop Loughlin last Wednesday, Holy Cross came back down to earth. The Holy Cross Knights came up short against the Xaverian Clippers on Saturday, falling 65-40. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Clippers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Mona Okorie, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Okorie has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 38 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeeanna Pierantoni, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Holy Cross smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 39 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Holy Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Xaverian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Holy Cross will square off against Archbishop Molloy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Xaverian, they will host Christ the King at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
