Basketball Game Preview: Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies vs. Liberty Union Lions

The Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies will be taking part in a tournament against the Liberty Union Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Johnstown-Monroe sitting on five straight victories and Liberty Union on three.

Last Saturday, Johnstown-Monroe didn't have too much trouble with Northridge as they won 52-34. Given the Johnnies' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Vikings are ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Liberty Union earned a 54-43 win over Lakewood on Tuesday.

Liberty Union's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points over those games. As for Johnstown-Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.

Johnstown-Monroe might still be hurting after the 57-35 loss they got from Liberty Union in their previous meeting back in December of 2017. Can Johnstown-Monroe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
