Baseball Recap: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Sullivan West Bulldogs
Eldred lost to Sullivan West back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets fell 7-4 to the Bulldogs. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Evan Zgrodek put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jayson Banach made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Mason Tice, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Eldred's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Sullivan West, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.
Coming up, Eldred will be playing in front of their home fans against Rockland Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sullivan West, they will head out on the road to take on Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
