Preview: Clarksville Christian vs. Stewart County Rebels
Clarksville Christian is 0-4 against Stewart County since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, Clarksville Christian will head out on the road to face off against the Stewart County Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Clarksville Christian wrapped up 2023 with a 68-54 win over Big Sandy. The win was just what Clarksville Christian needed coming off of a 53-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Clarksville Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesiah Sutton, who scored 16 points. Sutton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cyler Middleton, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Stewart County's 11-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Thursday. They came out on top against East Hickman County by a score of 60-52. That 60-52 margin sets a new team best for Stewart County this season.
Clarksville Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Stewart County, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-10.
Clarksville Christian ended up a good deal behind Stewart County in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, losing 53-34. Thankfully for Clarksville Christian, Bradley Brainard (who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
