Basketball Recap: Safford Comes Up Short

Safford lost against Empire back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Safford Bulldogs fell 77-67 to the Empire Ravens. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Donovan Davidson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Empire, putting up 33 points along with seven boards and six assists. The match was Davidson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Issac Buchanan, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds.

Safford's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Empire, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13.

The future could be bright for both Safford and Empire: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Safford will try to hand Andrada Polytechnic their seventh-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Empire will look to extend Catalina's 12-game losing streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
