Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Green County

Green County won against Calloway County on Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Dragons came out on top against the Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees by a score of 8-3. The win was nothing new for the Dragons as they're now sitting on four straight.

Cash Jones was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Green County's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-0-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Jones was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew Squires, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. He has become a key player for Green County: the team is 6-2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Larson Matney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Green County's victory bumped their record up to 7-5-1. As for Bethlehem, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Green County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-6 defeat against Monroe County on the 15th. As for Bethlehem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 win against Bluegrass United on the 15th.
