Basketball Recap: Tyrek Jordan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westlake over Northern

While it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, Westlake was not quite Northern's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northern Patriots. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Westlake lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyrek Jordan, who posted ten points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Gore, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Alec Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northern, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jonothan Green was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Westlake dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Northern, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Westlake will take on Calvert at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake is facing Calvert at the right time seeing as Calvert is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Northern, they will venture away from home to challenge Thomas Stone at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Northern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
