Recap: Carlin Railroaders vs. Round Mountain Knights

The Carlin Railroaders lost against the Round Mountain Knights two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Carlin received a tough blow as they fell 38-21 to the Knights. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carlin in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Railroaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bretta Melendez, who scored eight points along with two steals. Melendez hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Mariah Urenda, who scored five points along with two steals.

Ava Faga was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds for Round Mountain. Faga hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Dutton, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Carlin's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.7 points per game. As for Round Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Carlin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Braves at 4:00 p.m. on January 24th. Round Mountain is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on January 25th.
