Baseball Recap: Struthers Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Struthers's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the McKinley Red Dragons. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jordan Becker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Becker wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Chizmar, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Eddie Bradley was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Struthers' win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for McKinley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Struthers will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Dragons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
