The Flatirons Academy Bison will face off against the SkyView Academy Hawks at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Flatirons Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
SkyView Academy's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Flatirons Academy hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Bison's pitchers stepped up to hand Otis a 13-0 shutout on Saturday. The Bison have beaten the Bulldogs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Parker Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last ten matches.
In other batting news, Flatirons Academy got a massive performance out of Noah Evans, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mateo Pope, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Flatirons Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Otis only posted an OBP of .235.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for SkyView Academy's offense. They came up short against Lyons on Thursday, falling 8-0. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.
SkyView Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holden FitzRoy, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
SkyView Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Flatirons Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Everything went Flatirons Academy's way against SkyView Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2018, as Flatirons Academy made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
