Recap: Mica Mountain Thunderbolts vs. Sahuaro Cougars
The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They suffered a rough 58-36 defeat at the hands of Sahuaro on Monday. Mica Mountain was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-21.
When it comes to explaining why Mica Mountain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isabella Webb. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 47.2% of Mica Mountain's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amaris Biancuzzo, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Cassandra Coolidge continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sahuaro, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Dazmyne Gambrell was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Mica Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Sahuaro, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-8.
Mica Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rio Rico at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Rio Rico is ranked 54th, while Mica Mountain is ranked 56th).
