Softball Recap: Agawam Drops Highest Score of Season Against Holyoke

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Agawam). They never let the Holyoke Purple Knights get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Friday. The Brownies have beaten the Purple Knights the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Purple Knights has come to flipping the script.

Madelyn Pajer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Stairs, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Agawam was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holyoke only posted a batting average of .176.

Agawam's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Holyoke, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Coming up, Agawam will challenge Greenfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Holyoke, they will welcome Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
