Kearney took a seven-run  defeat the last time they faced off against Burke, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bearcats narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  team sidled past the Bulldogs  3-2. Three seems to be a good number for the Bearcats as the  squad scooped up a  win with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
 Derrick Nonhof tossed a big game,   pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in four consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Kearney's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Bryce Andersen, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  run and one  double.
Kearney is  on a roll lately: they've  won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Burke, their loss dropped their record down to 8-18.
As of now, neither Kearney nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
