Softball Game Preview: Bristol County Agricultural Chieftains vs. Cape Cod RVT Crusaders

Bristol County Agricultural is a perfect 6-0 against Cape Cod RVT since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Chieftains will venture away from home to take on the Crusaders at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bristol County Agricultural has nine straight wins, Cape Cod RVT has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Bristol County Agricultural had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Westport on Tuesday. The Chieftains put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 18-0 victory. The Chieftains might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

Ruth Fagundes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Autumn Nicholson was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Molly LaBrie was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Bristol County Agricultural was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Cape Cod RVT lost 16-4 to Old Colony RVT on Monday.

Bristol County Agricultural's record is now 12-2. As for Cape Cod RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Bristol County Agricultural's way against Cape Cod RVT when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Bristol County Agricultural made off with a 12-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
