Basketball Preview: Lakeside Knights vs. Bonners Ferry Badgers
Lakeside has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Bonners Ferry Badgers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, Lakeside was fully in charge, breezing past the Wampus Cats 90-50 at home. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Wampus Cats are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyson Charley, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Charley is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brutis Sijohn, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Bonners Ferry came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Lakeland 86-53 on the road.
Lakeside pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 90.7 points per game. As for Bonners Ferry, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Lakeside came up short against the Badgers in their previous matchup back in January, falling 73-65. Can Lakeside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
