Basketball Recap: Atchison County Comes Up Short

Atchison County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 40-7 loss at the hands of the Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] Cyclones. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cyclones this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 83-4 back in December of 2025.

Atchison County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Riverside [Wathena/Elwood], their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Atchison County is set to take on their familiar foe Oskaloosa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] will square off against rival Jackson Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
