Football Recap: Johnson County Piles Up the Points Against Butler

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Johnson County). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-8 win over the Butler Bulldogs. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.

Johnson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nathan Turberville, who threw for 92 yards and three TDs on only six passes. That's the most passing yards Turberville has posted since back in November of 2024. Johnson County's leading receiver Tayshawn Norris was Turberville's top target yet again, picking up 76 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 41 yards.

Johnson County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 211 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Johnson County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Daezon Devero, Jacaden Webb, and Cory King picked up one apiece.

Johnson County's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average over those games. As for Butler, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson County will venture away from home to square off against Treutlen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Butler, they will head out to take on Washington-Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
