League recap: Andale tops Cheney to extend winning streak

Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division IV recap Oct. 30, 2012

Andale extended the longest winning streak in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division IV this week by beating Cheney, 42-6. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Indians.

Andale was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Cardinals. Gary O'Hair's team came in at 16 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.

Landon Root and Isaiah Franklin gave Collegiate a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Root threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns, while Franklin ran for 154 yards. Teammate Nathan Burgoyne added to the ground attack by rushing for 81 yards.

Zach Nelson was the best wideout in the league this week as Circle lost to Maize South. Nelson tallied four receptions for 86 yards. Stewart Dennison helped Circle's passing attack out by catching three balls for 80 yards.

Garrett Hutson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Thunderbirds fell to the Mavericks. He completed eight passes for 172 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 47 yards.

Collegiate's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Root has thrown for 1242 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Markus Phox has 38 catches for 548 yards. Franklin leads the league in rushing with 1101 yards.

The Spartans took down Augusta 69-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Root ran for 13 yards in the win.
