Springs Valley is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They fell 7-2 to Borden.
Springs Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marissa Marshall, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Corydon Central got themselves on the board against Austin on Thursday, but Austin never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Panthers have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Corydon Central also got a great performance from Madison Garretson as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Garretson has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Kynlee Mader was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Alford, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Corydon Central and bumps their season record up to 14-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Springs Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Springs Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Corydon Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
