Basketball Game Preview: Madison County Mountaineers vs. Stonewall Jackson Generals

Madison County is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Stonewall Jackson Generals at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Madison County is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They took a 43-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monticello on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Madison County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lariana Kilby shot 47% from the field on her way to 16 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lehanna Carpenter, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Stonewall Jackson had to suffer through a 56-28 loss at the hands of Riverheads. The Generals haven't had much luck with the Gladiators recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Madison County strolled past Stonewall Jackson when the teams last played back in February by a score of 39-24. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
