Estill County got themselves on the board against Powell County on Monday, but Powell County never followed suit. They blew past the Pirates 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Engineers, who have now won 13 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Bella Rice made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Rice was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Estill County got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Ferrell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Ferrell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Callee Snowden, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Estill County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Powell County only posted a batting average of .222.
Estill County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Powell County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-14.
As of now, neither Estill County nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
