Recap: Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons vs. Amherst Broncos
The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 66-25 loss at the hands of Amherst. Wilcox-Hildreth has not had much luck with Amherst recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Wilcox-Hildreth lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Gruwell. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks. Gruwell has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. Micah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Wilcox-Hildreth bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home. As for Amherst, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilcox-Hildreth will take on Silver Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amherst, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasanton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pleasanton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Amherst is ranked sixth).
