Meanwhile, Mabel-Canton came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wolverines 3-0.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Mabel-Canton was: they took every set by at least 17 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-8, 25-6.
Mabel-Canton's win came from a few key players Schaeffer Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaci Wangsness, who had four digs and four aces. What's more, she posted three assists, the most she's had since back in August. Livia Garness was another key player, getting six digs and three aces.
Mabel-Canton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive contests.
Schaeffer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Mabel-Canton, their record is now 25-3.
Schaeffer Academy suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Mabel-Canton in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
