First Flight came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Currituck County Knights get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 on Tuesday.

The result came thanks to Riley Gilreath's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McKenzie Dexter was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Winslow, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

First Flight pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Currituck County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

As of now, neither First Flight nor Currituck County have any future games scheduled.
