Baseball Game Preview: Standing Bear Grizzlies vs. York Dukes

The Standing Bear Grizzlies will take on the York Dukes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Standing Bear is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Standing Bear saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of North Platte by a score of 6-5.

Meanwhile, York was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Fairbury. The Dukes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

York let Thomas Bonde and Jackson Holoch run wild. Bonde scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Holoch went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Bonde snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Demuth, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairbury only posted a batting average of .258.

The win made it two in a row for York and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Standing Bear, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
