Alma Center Lincoln was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Osseo-Fairchild 3-2.
Alma Center Lincoln took Osseo-Fairchild into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-18, 25-20, 17-25, 15-9.
Mikaela Wagner had an outrageously good game as she had 45 digs and three aces.
Wagner wasn't the only good servers: Alma Center Lincoln was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, in Thursday's Canine Competition, Elmwood/Plum City didn't have enough. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boyceville on Thursday. The Wolves' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Elmwood/Plum City started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-16.
Elmwood/Plum City's defeat dropped their record down to 20-14. As for Alma Center Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Alma Center Lincoln hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.1 blocks per game. It's a different story for Elmwood/Plum City, though, as they've been averaging only 1.5 blocks.
