Volleyball Recap: Thomas MacLaren School Comes Up Short

Thomas MacLaren School entered their contest against Gateway on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Highlanders fell just short of the Olympians by a score of 2-1. The Highlanders just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Thomas MacLaren School started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 27-25, 15-7.

Chase Vadala paced Thomas MacLaren School's offense, picking up 14 kills. Vadala got some help from Benny Ambuul and his 13 assists. Finally, Michael Zimmer kept Thomas MacLaren School's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Thomas MacLaren School's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Gateway, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Looking ahead, Thomas MacLaren School will welcome Colorado Springs Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gateway, they will head out on the road to square off against DSST: Cedar at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Olympians surely won't give up without a fight.
