Mohawk came tearing into Monday's match with nine straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Old Fort Stockaders. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2019.
Mohawk had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.
Biz Klopp paced Mohawk's offense, picking up 29 kills. Klopp got some help from Reese Hoover and her 48 assists. Klopp was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Despite the defeat, Old Fort saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carly Fortney had 18 digs.
Mohawk's record now sits at 20-4. As for Old Fort, they moved to 18-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak.
Looking ahead, Mohawk will take on Monroeville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Old Fort does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
