Osbourn Park will be up against a hot Woodgrove team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 28. Woodgrove's pitchers stepped up to hand Dominion a 27-0 shutout on Tuesday.
Virginia Dowell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Faith Barker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Addie McCullers was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Woodgrove lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Osbourn Park put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Colonial Forge as Osbourn Park made off with a 12-2 win.
Madison Mozingo spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.
On the hitting side, Jenna Wilson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cordia Hirschy, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Woodgrove pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Osbourn Park, their record now sits at 3-0.
Woodgrove came out on top in a nail-biter against Osbourn Park when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodgrove since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
