Baseball Game Preview: Spoto Spartans vs. Freedom Patriots

The Spoto Spartans will face off against the Freedom Patriots at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Spoto took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over East Bay.

Meanwhile, Freedom posted their closest win since February 18th on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Armwood 4-3.

Devon Acord and Connor Cress did most of the damage at the plate: Acord scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1, while Cress went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. Cress is becoming a predictor of Freedom's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

The victory got Spoto back to even at 9-9. As for Freedom, the win also got them back to even at 9-9.

Spoto skirted past Freedom 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Spoto repeat their success, or does Freedom has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
