The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles will head out to square off against the Santa Monica Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Capistrano Valley Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Capistrano Valley Christian beat Woodbridge 6-1.
The team relied heavily on Will Casarietti, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic French, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Santa Monica hadn't done well against Palos Verdes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Santa Monica came out on top against Palos Verdes by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Eddie Jennings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Brady Satinover was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Jackson Myrow was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Santa Monica's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their record now sits at 4-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Capistrano Valley Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Santa Monica struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Capistrano Valley Christian came up short against Santa Monica in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-0. Can Capistrano Valley Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
