Basketball Recap: Emma Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Circle over Independence

Circle was the 42-39 winner over Independence when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Circle Thunderbirds fell 49-42 to the Independence Bulldogs on Thursday. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Circle's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Johnson, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Hailey Coble, who earned nine points and three steals.

Circle now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Independence, they now have a winning record of 1-0-1.

Circle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-23 win against Parsons on the 14th. As for Independence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-50 loss against Mulvane on the 14th.
