Recap: Midland Legacy Rebels vs. Americas Trail Blazers
The Midland Legacy Rebels and the Americas Trail Blazers squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but sadly the Midland Legacy Rebels had to settle for second. They took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trail Blazers. While losing is never fun, Midland Legacy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Americas is ranked 73rd).
Americas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Marquez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Marquez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaedyn Herrera, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Midland Legacy and nudges their season record down to 16-17. As for Americas, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 27-6 record this season.
Midland Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Americas, they will square off against Southlake Carroll at TBD on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southlake Carroll comes in on nine and Americas on four.
