Football Recap: Ithaca Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ithaca walked away with it. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Laker Lakers 22-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Gibson Rondy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 182 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 201 yards and one TD. Those 182 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Rondy was just one part of a punishing run game: Ithaca was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Ithaca's record is now 8-3. As for Laker, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-3.

Looking ahead, Ithaca will take on Pewamo-Westphalia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Laker does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
