Basketball Game Preview: Tom Bean Tomcats vs. Celeste Blue Devils

Tom Bean is 2-8 against Celeste since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tom Bean Tomcats will head out to take on the Celeste Blue Devils at 8:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Tom Bean is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Whitewright on Tuesday. Tom Bean took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitewright.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Maguire Poole, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 11 games he's played. Jacob Lind was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Celeste played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Honey Grove, falling 61-32. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Tom Bean's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Celeste, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Tom Bean didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Celeste in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tom Bean since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
