Baseball Recap: Switzerland County Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lawrenceburg, Switzerland County was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Salem Lions 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pacers have posted since May 17, 2024.

Kemper Kitts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Switzerland County's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Roman Hite, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. The Pacers are undefeated when Hite posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Braxton Eaglin was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Switzerland County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, they dropped their record down to 7-7-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Switzerland County will host North Decatur at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Salem, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Orleans at 5:00 p.m.
