Softball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

If Jefferson was riding high fresh off their 25-14 takedown of Santee last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jefferson lost 20-3 to the Diego Rivera Huskies on Friday. The matchup marked the Democrats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Melanie Ramirez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Eilyn Granados, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Jefferson's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Diego Rivera, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Coincidentally, Jefferson and Diego Rivera will both be playing Dr. Maya Angelou Community the next time they take the field. Jefferson will host Dr. Maya Angelou Community at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Diego Rivera will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
