Football Recap: Kyren Jones Leads Maple Mountain's Defense on Friday

Maple Mountain had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it four. They lost 44-20 to the Timpview Thunderbirds. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Thunderbirds from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Maple Mountain lost, don't look at Brooks Ross. Despite the final result, he picked up 139 receiving yards and one TD. Kyren Jones got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Maple Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Jones led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Kael Anderson is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Jones got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

As for Timpview, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 5.93 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.07 in the others.

Dexton Havea had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 55 yards. Taani Tuha was another key player, rushing for 77 yards and one score on only nine carries.
