Softball Recap: Albert Lea Comes Up Short

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Albert Lea was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They fell just short of Stewartville by a score of 2-1. Albert Lea hasn't had much luck with Stewartville recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Makenzie Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, Albert Lea saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiera Erickson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Erickson hit this season.

Albert Lea's record is now 0-5. As for Stewartville, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albert Lea will take on Austin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Packers at the right time seeing as the Packers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Stewartville, they will head out on the road to challenge Pine Island at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
