Basketball Recap: Belleville East Comes Up Short

Belleville East has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Alton Redbirds at home by a 63-49 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Redbirds are ranked sixth).

Belleville East's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Alton, they pushed their record up to 27-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Coming up, Belleville East will face off against East St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alton, they will host Collinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Alton has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three games.
